Sustainable Partnership

Here at Mats Inc. we recognize the importance of reducing our impact on the environment and creating sustainable partnerships.

From recycling paper products and reusing shipping materials to reclamation initiatives and green product offerings that help to create LEED-certified facilities, we are always striving for ways to manage our environmental footprint.

We are proud to have partners that share this passion with us. Consolidated Carpet, serving the Northeast markets, is one of those partners with which we have created a sustainable partnership. They have proven their commitment to environmentally-responsible practices with their ongoing efforts throughout the decades and we wanted to share some of the impressive things they have been doing.

Internal Green Initiatives

recycledMuch like Mats Inc., Consolidated Carpet has developed and implemented their own internal recycling program and recycles everything from cardboard to glass bottles and tin cans to newspapers. With a strong focus on this recycling program, Consolidated Carpet estimates that they are able to keep 2 tons of trash out of the waste stream every month. That’s a total of 24 tons of trash a year out of our landfills! Not only are they doing great things for the environment, they are also saving an average of 25% on trash disposal every month.

Con-Serve Reclamation Program

reclaimedCon-Serve Reclamation Program by Consolidated Carpet is one of the leading carpet reclamation initiatives in the country. Over the past three years, Consolidated Carpet has salvaged over one million pounds of carpet, diverting it from local dumps and landfills.

Solar Energy

solar-panelsOne of the largest sustainable initiatives Consolidated Carpet has undertaken is their solar energy program. In 2011, they installed a Solar Photovoltaic System at their New Jersey Warehouse. The system of solar panels affixed to the roof generates approximately 90% of all the energy needed to power the facility! Since the installation and at the time this article was written, the solar energy system has generated 15,468,713 kilowatt hours of power, the equivalency of energy needed to run 88,295 60 Watt light bulbs for 8 hours a day for an entire year.

In just almost 2 years time, Consolidated Carpet has saved 1,252,965 gallons of gas and 11,106 tons of CO2, creating a cleaner environment for years to come.
